About Bacchus Food & Spirits
The name of our Restaurant is Bacchus Food & Spirits. Known in both Greek and Roman mythology, Bacchus was the god of wine and good spirits. He was also known as the Liberator, freeing one from one's normal self or routine. Bacchus represented not just the intoxicating power of wine, but its social and beneficial influences. His divine mission was to bring an end to care and worry. Bacchus was also viewed as the patron deity of both agriculture and the theater.
And so, what restaurant is more suitably named? We are located in the middle of downtown Modesto, heart of the Central Valley, an agricultural capital of the world. Just one short block to the west of Bacchus Food & Spirits is the recently constructed Gallo Performing Arts Center, and one short block to the north is the newly renovated and historical State Theater. Our decor, which we proudly describe as comfortable and casual invites you to relax, socialize and forget your cares. Our menu is defined as "comfort food with a twist" is the result of freshly prepared local products providing not just another "place to eat", but a dining experience, a "freeing from the routine."
